Reaction Paper 3

Last week I got the opportunity to hear the photographic career path of another one of my professors, Cyr.  He explained how he got to where he is today.  It takes more planning than I initially thought, you always have to be one step ahead and know what your next move is.  I is beneficial to have a goal and to plan out what you want to do so you can achieve steps that will get you to the end result that you want.  Life moves faster than you realize so its good to be on your toes and always think of the future. I am also going to react to the art gallery on campus from staff members of the college.  I particularly liked the piece that was a collage.  In the world of digital art i often forget other mediums exist.  It was cool to see a picture/panting combined with clippings from real magazines and other cutout photos.  It is something i don't really see often so it was good to broaden my art horizon. Reaction Paper 2

Today in class I saw some of professor keener's work.  It was very cool to see his transition from photojournalism to fine art photography.  It also made me realize all the possible careers and paths photography can take you down.  I really liked some of his fine art work, especially the playground zero photos, I though they looked really cool.  It was also cool to see a different side of a professor.  We got a glimpse of his past and what he has been through.  We kind of got a sense of who he is and how he as changed through life just by looking at his work from over the years, which is cool to see.     I also learned that a career in photography can last a lifetime.  He has been taking pictures for like 40 years and does not seem to be slowing down.  Thats what is cool about photography, you never really retire until you die.  You can pretty much always take pictures either professionally or not. Color

Recently we were assigned portraits as our project for photo 101, I took some self portraits and noticed that what I'm wearing is color coordinated to my surroundings.  I guess I Unconsciously coordinate my colors a lot because looking back at most of the pictures i take, they all have similar color schemes.  A student also pointed out that I take pictures like they way I dress and he was right! I usually dress very colorful and match fairly well and in my photos color plays a important role in most of them.

Reaction Paper

Reaction Paper About a week or 2 ago my photography class visited a photographer’s studio.   The photographer we visited is Jim Lennon (lol no to be confused with john lennon).   He is a local photographer on long island and mostly works with corporate clients.   His studio is kind of small and he only has 1 employee, his wife.   He has 2 Hasselblad cameras and a variety of lights.   H also has a mock kitchen set up for food/kitchen based clients.               I learned a lot during this visit.   I learned how expensive and difficult it is to run your own studio.   I also learned how much training and year of experience you need to have to make it actually happen.   There is so much more that goes into running your own studio, way more than I imagined.   After visiting his studio and hearing speak I am definitely discouraged.   It is way too complicated, expensive an...

Florida

This weekend i went to florida to visit some of my friends.  I did not take too many pictures but here are a few of my favorite ones i took over the weekend.  The first two pictures were taken on the campus of Florida Atlantic University and the other three were taken in the art district of Miami, aka Wynwood. THAT PLACE IS INCREDIBLE!!  The graffiti walls their are insane, so many talented artists all in one place.
