October


This week I explored the abandoned psychiatric center buildings in kings park with my friend cam and captured some scary images because halloween is coming up in a few weeks.  Its amazing how cool buildings can look when no-one takes care of them for years.

This Week me and my friends played around with light!  First we messed around with long exposures and colors at my house.  I put the flash on so that the people would freeze in the picture but you could still see movement in the background.  Than last night it was super foggy out and about 2am and me and my friends decided to get some fog pictures.  We utilized a long exposure  so you could see the ray of light from the flashlight reflect off the fog.

Reaction Paper 2

Today in class I saw some of professor keener's work.  It was very cool to see his transition from photojournalism to fine art photography.  It also made me realize all the possible careers and paths photography can take you down.  I really liked some of his fine art work, especially the playground zero photos, I though they looked really cool.  It was also cool to see a different side of a professor.  We got a glimpse of his past and what he has been through.  We kind of got a sense of who he is and how he as changed through life just by looking at his work from over the years, which is cool to see.     I also learned that a career in photography can last a lifetime.  He has been taking pictures for like 40 years and does not seem to be slowing down.  Thats what is cool about photography, you never really retire until you die.  You can pretty much always take pictures either professionally or not. Reaction Paper 3

Last week I got the opportunity to hear the photographic career path of another one of my professors, Cyr.  He explained how he got to where he is today.  It takes more planning than I initially thought, you always have to be one step ahead and know what your next move is.  I is beneficial to have a goal and to plan out what you want to do so you can achieve steps that will get you to the end result that you want.  Life moves faster than you realize so its good to be on your toes and always think of the future. I am also going to react to the art gallery on campus from staff members of the college.  I particularly liked the piece that was a collage.  In the world of digital art i often forget other mediums exist.  It was cool to see a picture/panting combined with clippings from real magazines and other cutout photos.  It is something i don't really see often so it was good to broaden my art horizon.
